Description of filters
Both quick and advanced Gateway searches using "Search all databases"
can be limited using filters. They
allow you to define, for example, which databases should be searched,
whether only specific publication types should be included or which language
the material should be in.
Clicking the

symbol at the top left-hand corner of the search interface allows you to
hide the filters. By clicking the

symbol,
they can be brought back at any time.
The following search filters are available:
- Databases: this filter is only available for the "Search all databases" option.
It allows you to select one or more databases for searching.
- Publication type: permits searching for specific types of publication, e.g.
only book/journal articles, monographs or papers.
- Language: you can limit the search to material in one or more specified
languages.
Ticking the

box to the left of the filter list allows you to select or deselect all
filters simultaneously.
Example
? A search should include only book/journal articles in English.
! Firstly, the filter "Publication type" should be selected. Any
criteria which may have been previously activated can be deselected by ticking
the

box, subsequently the filter "articles" can be selected.
Following this, by switching to the "language" tab, "English" can be selected,
using the method described above.
